Commercial Terms: Revenue, Territory & Reporting

How FlipDistro handles revenue splits, territory rules, and monthly royalty reporting to our artists and partners.

This page documents FlipDistro's standard commercial framework. For streaming partners (DSPs) like Afrofuse, these terms describe how royalties flow from platform-reported streams back to the rights holders we represent.

Section 1

Revenue Splits

FlipDistro operates a transparent revenue-share model. The split between FlipDistro and the artist depends on the subscription plan. Where a release has multiple contributors (producer, featured artist, label), predefined percentage splits are applied automatically and each recipient is paid directly to their registered payout method.

Multi-Recipient Royalty Splits

When a release has multiple rightsholders — e.g. artist 60%, producer 30%, label 10% — FlipDistro applies the split automatically at payout. Each recipient is paid directly to their own registered payout method; no one has to collect and redistribute manually.

Section 2

Territory Rules

Territory availability is controlled release-by-release. Music is delivered worldwide by default, but rights holders can restrict or expand availability per region using standard ISO territory codes.

Worldwide by Default

Releases are delivered worldwide across all supported territories unless a restriction is specified at the release level.

Release-by-Release Control

Territory rights are managed per release. A single release can be worldwide, region-locked, or excluded from specific countries using ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes.

Rights Validity Windows

Territory rights support start and end dates, allowing time-limited licensing windows per region.

Regional Takedowns

Takedowns can be requested territory-by-territory. Content is removed from the affected platforms within 7-14 days.

Section 3

Monthly Royalty Reporting

How the Data Flows

For streaming partners (DSPs), the data flows in one direction: the DSP reports per-song stream counts and royalties to FlipDistro. FlipDistro then reconciles that data against platform reports, applies any commission and splits, and pays each rights holder their share.

3.1 Reporting Frequency & Data

Monthly royalty reports generated from streaming platform data.

Each report includes:

Release
Track
DSP / platform
Stream / usage counts
Gross revenue where available
Applicable deductions / commission
Net royalty
Territory where available

3.2 Report Delivery

Reports are accessible via dashboard and downloadable as CSV/PDF where available.

3.3 Report Timing

Statements are delivered to partners by the 15th of each month for the prior month's activity.

3.4 Data Sources

Streaming platform data from Spotify, Apple Music, Boomplay, Audiomack, and aggregated DSP reports.

3.5 Royalty Reconciliation

  • DSP reports may be updated after initial reporting.
  • Historical figures may be recalculated when new platform data arrives.
  • Adjustments are reflected in subsequent statements.
  • Server-side recalculation ensures accuracy; previous counts are preserved when new data supplements existing records.
  • The system maintains appropriate reporting records for audit and transparency.
